The Mamkhulu.org Youth Facilitator Team 2014
The youth facilitator team working for Mamkhulu.org has grown and changed over the past 10 years. Of the youth mentioned above, Xolane is now a police officer with SAPS and works in our Daantjie community. Happy and Witness are full time pastors. Whitey runs a youth programme in his community and works for the local high school. Dudu and Leonard are now facilitators for the ETDP-Seta, training other youth in various skills.
Youth Facilitator Training & Camps
Each year our 22 youth facilitators are involved in week long training sessions on various topics relevant to their work. In 2012, the training took place at 10,000 Homes in White River, as well as at the Litsemba Centre in Daantjie.
In 2013, another 4 training camps were held. The focus was on counseling skills, further training in how to assist the children in their schools to get documents, setting up clothing banks in the schools and general personal development. Most of the 22 youth were also involved in the Activate Leadership programme running in Johannesburg, where they went on training courses for 9 days, 3 times each year for the next 3 years. At the end of all this training they will be ready to start their own development programmes in their communities.
